Summary

Knights of the Round is the most powerful Summon in Final Fantasy VII, far surpassing even Zirconiade and Minerva. Their Materia can be obtained inRound Island, a hidden, uncharted islandlocated in the northeast corner of themap, accessible only by travelling on agold chocobo, as the terrain is a forest surrounded by mountains, making it impossible for airships to land or for ships to dock. An alternative method to get this Summon is as part of theMaster Summon Materia, which obtained by trading it the Desert Rose, prize obtained by defeating the Ruby Weapon. When used it will call thirteen knights to unleash a vicious assault on all enemies.

Nothing is known about them or where they came from, beyond that these knights are King Arthur himself and his Round Table.

Powers and Stats:

Tier: 3-B, likely 2-A

Name: Knights of the Round

Origin: Final Fantasy VII

Gender: Unknown, presumably male

Age: Unknown, possibly hundreds or even thousands of years (natural Materia take generations to form and the Summons they call may be even older)

Classification: Summons, Summoned Beasts, Knights, Sorcerers, King

Powers and Abilities:

Abilities:

  • Superhuman Physical Characteristics, Longevity, Weapon Mastery, Flight, Pocket Reality Manipulation (Summons draw[1] enemies to their own alternate realm to attack or fight), Magic and Elemental Manipulation of the Fire, Earth and Absolute Zero Ice variety (Far more powerful than Shiva, who can reach[2] these temperatures with her cold), Durability Negation via Spatial Manipulation (King Arthur's attack with Excalibur destroys the realm[3] where the onslaught took place. Ultimate End bypasses magical and spiritual defenses), Holy Manipulation (the Excalibur is described[3] as a Holy Weapon), Reflection Negation (the ultimate moves of all Summons, cannot be reflected[4] by shields or barriers)

Resistances:

  • Resistance to Fire Manipulation, Absolute Zero Ice Manipulation, Earth Manipulation, Holy Manipulation and Spatial Manipulation (Summons naturally resist the elements they employ in combat)

Attack Potency: Multi-Galaxy level (Is the sole Summon superior to Zirconiade and even Minerva. Their special attack, Ultimate End, destroys a dimension containing a galaxy cluster), likely Multiverse level+ (Is the only Summon capable of inflicting relevant damage on Jenova∙SYNTHESIS, the strongest she has ever been[3], and Safer Sephiroth, whom had become a being described as godlike[5] and nearing godhood[5] after absorbing knowledge from the Lifestream and completing the Reunion. Both enemies compare to Cloud, who fought in Ramza Beoulve's army during his stay in Ivalice, as an equal to Balthier and Luso Clemens, the former whom had defeated Gilgamesh twice alongside Vaan, and the latter who had teamed up with Vaan on his own adventures. Cloud had become far stronger since these events)

Speed: Massively FTL+ (Displays these attack speeds with Ultimate End. Likely they compare to Safer Sephiroth)

Lifting Strength: Stellar (Far more powerful than Typhon)

Striking Strength: Multi-Galaxy level, likely Multiverse level+

Durability: Multi-Galaxy level (They endure the collapse of their dimension), likely Multiverse level+ (Should compare to their destructive power, which is capable of harming Jenova∙SYNTHESIS and Safer Sephiroth)

Stamina: Superhuman (Summons are not physical beings, rather entities similar to Minerva, whom transcend matter entirely and thus lacks a physical body to truly exhaust themselves)

Range: Extended Melee Range with weapons. Intergalactic with their abilities.

Standard Equipment: Excalibur among other swords, along with spears and staves from the Knights.

Intelligence: Possibly Above Average (Being a counterpart of King Artur and his knights, they should be skilled and experienced combatants)

Weaknesses: None notable

Notable Attacks/Techniques:

  • Ultimate End: A portal opens below the enemy and he is dragged down to an alternate realm where the knights, one by one, unleash an attack using their swords, spears or their magic, as the dimension warps and becomes a starry realm and eventually a sky of spiralling galaxies. This culminates as a blinding light emanates and everything goes pitch black, and the figure of King Arthur himself emerges from the darkness, who, blowing his cape aside, raises the Excalibur above his head and delivers a decisive two-handed slash to the opponent, with enough force to destroy the space where the onslaught took place. This attack ignores all defenses of any enemy.

Explanations

There are reasons why Zirconiade and Minerva don't scale to the Knights of the Round. Despite Zirconiade's summoning being treated as a calamity that had to be prevented at all costs and Minerva being openly stated to be stronger than Summons, the acknowledgement of both of these instances involved people who had previous knowledge these entities and knew their capabilities beforehand. In Zirconiade's case, Hojo was directly researching the Materia and its potential, while the people in the first incarnation of Avalanche trying to Summon Zirconiade were scholars in Studies of the Planet Life, a doctrine which researches the Lifestream and life on the Planet. In Minerva's case, her location, the Cave of Wonders, and her energy emanations had been being observed for a long time by the Shinra Company, with many expeditions being sent to investigate, all of them ending in failure until Zack took the mission, and it was thanks to this that they could establish that the readings of her power were unprecedented compared to anything they had seen before (which would include Zirconiade).

The Knights of the Round, however, was a naturally formed Materia inside a cave on an uncharted island in a corner of the world, which was impossible to access via ship due to the mountains surrounding it, or airship due to the forests covering it (this is also considering that aside military aircrafts and helicopters, Shinra does seem to struggle with development of flying technology to cover long distances, if Rufus demanding the Tiny Bronco and Cid's help to chase down Sephiroth through the world is of any indication). For these reasons, it can be concluded that Shinra simply had no idea of the existence of the Knights of the Round nor had a way of knowing about their power like they did with Minerva or Zirconiade.
