FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: June, 8th 2024On Saturday, June 8th at approximately 2:00 pm the Muskegon Department of Public Safety responded to a swimmer in distress 200 feet off the North break arm in Lake Michigan. Several witnesses reported the subject disappearing under the water. An extensive search of the area was conducted by the Muskegon Fire Department, Norton Shores Fire Department, Muskegon County Sheriffs Department and the US Coast Guard. At this time no victim has been located and no one has been reported missing.Search efforts will continue in an attempt to verify that a drowning occurred.Please contact Muskegon County Central Dispatch or the Muskegon Police Department if you have any information regarding this incident.
