    Last week, I had the pleasure of attending the Integrating Women Leaders Foundation conference, and it was nothing short of inspiring! Amidst the impactful sessions, a funny tactile marketing incident happened that I had to share.Inside our swag bags was a branded pen. As the sessions began, we were encouraged to jot down notes and reflections. However, many at my table struggled to get their pens working. Fortunately, I always carry an embarrassing number of pens in my purse, so I came to the rescue. I was ready to write a post about the importance of spending a little extra on reliable pens when the MC revealed a twist: the pens had a black light on the end and wrote in invisible ink! The collective laughter that followed was priceless. It struck me that had the pens worked as expected, I wouldn’t remember them as vividly. This experience reinforced a valuable lesson: sometimes, a little failure can lead to delightful surprises. And of course, always carry extra pens!     Just read this article on brand awareness, and I couldn't help but notice a glaring omission: the impact of physical marketing! 😮 While brand impressions might be harder to measure than digital clicks, they're absolutely vital for brand recognition - especially for B2B companies.Did you know that 90% of people who receive a promotional product can remember the name of the brand? (PPAI) And 88% recall the advertiser even two years after receiving the item!     Last week marked a transformative chapter in my life, one of those distinct "before" and "after" experiences. I spent my “spring break” immersed in learning the Simplexity process at the Basadur Applied Innovation Center near Toronto. This technique has not only expanded my professional and volunteer toolkit, but also reshaped how I view every challenge I encounter. I feel so incredibly fortunate to have learned so much in such a short amount of time, and alongside inspiring new friends from around the globe! 🇳🇴🇮🇳🇨🇦A heartfelt thank you to Ron Brumbarger for the invitation and for the delightful company during our 8-hour drive home.     I had so much fun meeting these up-and-coming marketing pros and sharing wisdom with other seasoned vets last week! A big thanks to Mackensie Neumann-Affolder for the invitation. The panel discussion was insightful, but I especially loved the opportunity to hear questions from the impressive number of attendees. The next generation is excited about data, concerned about work-life balance, and interested in the wide variety of marketing jobs available to them today. If you're hiring, I'd recommend you strongly consider an IUPUI Kelley School graduate!
